Kenworth and Peterbilt Recall
On January 25, 2024, PACCAR Incorporated, a renowned manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks, has issued a safety recall affecting a substantial number of their vehicles.
The purpose of this safety recall lies in the steering gear assemblies of certain Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks manufactured between 2024 and 2025. According to PACCAR's report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these assemblies may have been incorrectly assembled, potentially leading to a loss of steering control due to fewer recirculating balls than required. This technical flaw poses a significant risk, as any loss of steering control dramatically increases the likelihood of a crash.
The scale of the recall is notable, with an estimated 47,208 units potentially affected by the steering gear issue.
